Services

Utility Designating/Locating:

This is our primary service and widely referred to as “Utility Locating” within the industry. This is where we find the approximate horizontal location of each utility by using both active and passive locating methods. Active locating includes direct connections, induction clamp, and inductions. Passive locating includes sweeps in the radio and power modes and additional sweeps for any unknown signals.

Utility Designating/Locating:

This is our primary service and widely referred to as “Utility Locating” within the industry. We will find the approximate horizontal location of each locatable utility by using both active and passive locating methods. Active locating includes direct connections, induction clamp, and inductions. Passive locating includes sweeps in the radio and power modes. Additional active and passive sweeps will be performed for any other signals that can be received outside of the known utilities within the search area.

Air Vacuum Excavation:

Also known as “potholing”, or “test-pitting”, this is where we find the precise horizontal and vertical location of each utility by exposing them through a dry, nondestructive excavation method. We then obtain measurements of the utilities to include the depth, size, material type, and condition and provide informative test pit reports accordingly. The spoils removed can be used immediately for backfill.

Hydro Vacuum Excavation:

Also known as “potholing”, or “test-pitting”, this is where we find the precise horizontal and vertical location of each utility by exposing them through a wet, nondestructive excavation method. Informative test pit reports that include the utilities depth, size, material type, and condition can be provided upon request. Wet slurry spoils are typically disposed of offsite. Holes are left open unless backfill is requested.

Duct Rodder Tracing:

A traceable fiberglass rod embedded with copper cable is pushed through unlocatable underground conduits and pipes, then energized by an electromagnetic field to provide an approximate horizontal location through EM locating methods.

Utility Mapping:

The production of a high-quality utility map that indicates the approximate location of each utility found within the work limits, as well as above-ground structures to be used as reference points. Utilities will be represented following the APWA Utility Color Code.

Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E.):

  • Quality Level D (Utility Records Research) – Consult with utility owners to obtain available records/asbuilts that indicate the approximate location of each existing utility and/or oral recollections of utility data.
  • Quality Level C (Site Survey) – The visual observation of above ground utility structures and using professional judgment in correlation to the obtained utility information.
  • Quality Level B (Designating)This is our primary service and widely referred to as “Utility Locating” within the industry.
  • Quality Level A (Locating) – We will find the precise horizontal and vertical location of each utility by exposing them through a locating method, such as non-destructive air or hydro vacuum excavation, to obtain measurements of utilities, including the depth, size, material type, and condition.
Concrete scanning:

A detection method where we utilize a compact, high frequency GPR (ground penetrating radar) antenna for accurate scanning and real time analysis of concrete structures. GPR has the ability to locate metallic and non-metallic objects such as rebars, voids, post-tension cables, cavities, conduits, and any other objects buried within the structure prior to cutting, coring, or drilling into concrete.

Ground Penetrating Radar:

A detection method where we utilize a pushcart GPR antenna that produces radio waves, or an electromagnetic pulse, to find targets and anomalies buried within a structure or beneath a surface. GPR has the ability to detect both metallic and non-metallic objects for a wide range of applications such as utility locating, structural assessments, finding UST’s, and more.
